Refund policy

We want every Varenne order to arrive and be tried on in the best possible conditions. To request a return or size exchange, or to report a problem with your order, email maisonvarenne.contact@gmail.com and include your order number. Requests may be sent by email at any time.

Right of withdrawal

Under Articles L.221-18 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, you have 14 days from receipt of your order to exercise your right of withdrawal without giving a reason or incurring a penalty.

To exercise this right, notify us before the deadline by sending an unambiguous statement to maisonvarenne.contact@gmail.com. You may also use the model withdrawal form at the bottom of this page.

After notification, the goods must be returned without undue delay and no later than 14 days after you communicate your decision. Contact us before shipping your return so that we can provide the procedure for your order.

Condition of returned items

Items must be returned complete, with their original labels and packaging, unworn, unwashed, unaltered and free of odours, stains or signs of use.

They may only have been handled as necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and proper functioning, as you might do in a shop. Under Article L.221-23 of the French Consumer Code, you may be liable for any loss in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary.

Return costs

The cost of returning the goods is your responsibility unless the item is defective, non-conforming or was sent in error by us. We recommend using a tracked service, as the parcel remains your responsibility until we receive it.

First size exchange

If you need another size, contact us before returning the item. Once the returned item has been received and inspected, Varenne covers shipment of the first replacement size, subject to availability and compliance with the return conditions above.

This covers shipment of the replacement size. It does not mean that a prepaid return label is supplied: the cost of returning the original item remains your responsibility. We will provide practical instructions when you contact us.

If the requested size is unavailable, we will offer an appropriate solution without affecting your statutory rights.

Refunds

When you exercise the right of withdrawal, we refund all sums paid, including the standard delivery charge initially paid, no later than 14 days after we are informed of your decision.

Under Article L.221-24 of the French Consumer Code, we may withhold the refund until we recover the goods or you provide evidence that they have been sent, whichever occurs first.

The refund is made using the same payment method used for the order unless another method is expressly agreed. No fee is charged. The time before the amount appears in your account then depends on your bank.

If you selected a delivery method more expensive than the standard option offered, the additional amount is not refunded.

Personalised or made-to-measure pieces

Under Article L.221-28(3) of the French Consumer Code, the right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalised. These pieces cannot be returned or exchanged unless they are defective or non-conforming.

Defective or non-conforming items

If you receive an item that is defective, damaged or does not match your order, contact us as soon as possible with your order number and photographs of the issue. We will arrange the return at our expense and then replace or refund the item.

Leather is a natural material. Variations in grain, colour, veining and patina are inherent and do not constitute defects.

These provisions apply without prejudice to the statutory guarantee of conformity under Articles L.217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code and the guarantee against hidden defects under Articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code.

International orders

For international orders, mandatory consumer rights applicable in the customer’s country of residence remain in force where relevant. The return procedure may vary by destination; contact us before shipping. Customs duties and taxes paid on import are not refundable by Varenne and any recovery request must be made to the destination country’s customs authorities.
