Black Friday: How to Buy a Men’s Leather Jacket

At the end of November, discounts are everywhere, and a leather jacket is one of those purchases many people put off all year until Black Friday. It is a good idea, on one condition: buy a piece you will wear for ten years, not a bargain that disappoints by the first winter. A poorly chosen leather jacket is expensive even at half price. Here is how to sort the good from the bad.

Black Friday 2026: the dates

Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November 2026, and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Many brands spread their offers over the whole week, sometimes starting several days earlier. It is also when holiday shopping begins: a leather jacket ordered at the end of November has time to arrive, be tried on and, if needed, exchanged before the holidays.

Reading a discount: the reference price

A 50% discount means nothing if the crossed-out price was never actually charged. In the European Union, any announced price reduction must be calculated from the lowest price charged by the seller in the previous 30 days. A price inflated in early November to show a big discount at the end of the month is therefore not allowed.

The right reflex: identify the two or three styles you like now and note their price. On the day, you will know immediately whether the discount is real. Be wary of prices that look too good to be true as well: a jacket in genuine lambskin, properly cut and assembled, has a production cost that cannot be squeezed.

Check that it is real leather

The words “genuine leather” on their own guarantee very little. A jacket in coated split leather can be described that way, and it is the one that flakes after two or three years. On the product page, look for:

  • The name of the hide: lambskin, cowhide, calfskin. A serious product page always states it.
  • The words “split” or “bonded leather”: these are not full-grain leathers, and they age badly.
  • The lining composition and the details of the finishing (fastenings, seams).

Think in cost per wear

A €120 jacket worn for two winters costs more than a €300 jacket worn for ten years. Quality leather does not wear out: it develops a patina, softens and takes your shape. When comparing two offers, the right question is not “how much am I paying today” but “how many times will I wear it”. That is also why it is better to choose a cut that fits into your current wardrobe than a spectacular piece you will wear three times.

Choosing the right cut

If you are unsure, our guide which men’s leather jacket to choose compares the cuts one by one.

Size: the most common mistake

Leather softens as you wear it, but it does not gain centimetres. Measure a jacket that fits you well, laid flat: chest width from armhole to armhole, shoulder width, sleeve length. Compare it with the size guide on the product page. If you often wear a thick knit underneath and hesitate between two sizes, the larger one is usually the safer choice.

Conditions that matter as much as price

During sales, delivery, return and exchange conditions sometimes change. Before you check out, look at:

  • Delivery costs and, outside the European Union, who pays import duties.
  • Size exchange conditions: free or paid, and within what time frame.
  • The right of withdrawal: for online purchases in the EU, it is in principle 14 days from receipt, sale items included.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Black Friday 2026?
Friday 27 November 2026. Cyber Monday follows on Monday 30 November.

How can I tell whether a discount is real?
In the EU, the reduction must be calculated from the lowest price charged in the previous 30 days. Note the price of the styles you like a few weeks beforehand.

Can I return an item bought on Black Friday?
Yes. For online purchases in the EU, the 14-day right of withdrawal also applies to sale items.

Lambskin or cowhide: which should I choose?
Lambskin is more supple and lighter; cowhide is denser and more structured. Both last, as long as they are full-grain.

Is a leather jacket a good Christmas gift?
Yes, if you know his size. Otherwise, measure a jacket he already wears: our article on leather anniversary gifts explains the method.
